Among Chapels and Orchards

This itinerary is suitable for everybody and great for families. It gives you the opportunity to wend your way among vineyards, cherry orchards and olive groves, skirting the foothills of the Giant of Provence. Take time to look at the small, medieval or romanesque chapels, built with stone from the nearby quarries. There is a lot of history to explore in this area of Mont Ventoux. This itinerary is highly recommended in the springtime, when the cherry trees are in blossom. Autumn is also very beautiful for the vineyards turn flaming red and gold in the fall.

On the way
The ride starts in the village of Malaucène, once the summer residence of Pope Clément V in the 14th century. The ride winds along the base of the Giant of Provence, in an area where the terraced fields and religious architecture take you back in time.
On the outskirts of Malaucene, a small road will lead you to orchards and vineyards. You will see the St Roch chapel dedicated to the saint who protected the Comtat from the plague. Opposite you will observe zaffre cliffs with strange shapes. Before going back to Malaucene, stop in Beaumont-du-Ventoux and admire the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre built in the XII. century.
